Though it seems that some people have it all, a lot of hard work was put into their career. Misty Copeland, an amazing dancer, is one example. When Misty Copeland started dance, she was living in a poor poverty-like state. She grew up in a small, dusty motel and some days she didn't get a scrap of food. She and her 5 siblings would fight to get a place to sleep. But, ever since she started dance, it was like another world where all her problems disappeared. Cindy Bradley, Copeland's dance coach, invited Copeland to live with her during the week because her life was dedicated to dance. Even then, she was involved in a custody battle between her mom and Bradley. Every step of her life she had to fight, and work hard for what she wanted. Even today, dancing for one of the top 3 classical ballet companies in the world, the American Ballet Theatre, she always has to work harder because of her race. She is the first principal black dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. Through all her hardships, Misty Copeland is still working hard and is one of the most inspiring dancers in the world.
Michaela DePrinceMichaela DePrince is another example of a dancer who had to work hard to get where she is now. She was born in Sierra-Leone and she was an orphan. her father was shot, and her mother starved to death. She was put in an orphanage but regarded as the "devil's child" because she had vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition that is very rare that causes discoloration in your skin. Despite all the troubles she had gone through, her orphanage was bombed and she was forced to flee to a refugee camp. Then she was adopted by Elaine and Charles DePrince. DePrince was be inspired by a magazine cover in Sierra-Leone to become a dancer. She participated in YAGP(youth american Grand Prix). However, some difficulties still remained. She wasn't allowed to play Marie in The Nutcracker because, "America wasn't ready for a black ballerina" Her mother was told that she shouldn't invest so much into a black ballerina. She still gives her best and is an excellent, inspiring, influential ballerina.
